Well... one year later, the warranty expired, I actually slaved the old XP drive to my Vista box! I said I would, I've been champing at the bit to do exactly that, and now it is done.
This means that, though the old information still needs to be reformatted for the new look and all that, I finally have access to all the content I was working on back when the XP box crashed. For you newer visitors, the XP box would not burn CDs for no good reason, so backing-up data was not an option. One day, the videoboard just gave-out and I was screwed. Luckily, I was able to get a Vista box within a week or so, but had to start over on The Weirding basically from scratch.
Since SAFE was basically already written, I wasn't about to start over on that! Without those data files, I was unable to move forward with that project. Now I can.
Unfortunately, I have tried at least five different things and basically, whenever the XP drive is hooked-up, the CDRW drive does not work - the computer can't even find it! The XP drive is an IDE and the Vista drive is "UNKNOWN," so I have no choice but to hook it up like the CD drive. So, whenever I want to play The Sims now, I'm going to have to get into the box!
At least until I figure it out.
Any help would be much appreciated!
